MSSQL: SQL SERVER – Unable to Start SQL Service – OS Error 5 (Access is denied.) for TempDB

Start SQL with /f /mSQLCMD

Connect to SQL via SQLCMD.

Run following ALTER command
1> ALTER DATABASE tempdb MODIFY FILE
2> (NAME = ‘tempdev’, FILENAME = ‘E:\TempDB\TempDB.mdf’)
3> GO

1>Exit

net stop MSSQLSERVER
net start MSSQLSERVER
